The Minoru Jacket

I finished my Minoru jacket the other day and I am very pleased with how it has turned out.

I used fabric from my stash and unfortunately there was not enough for the hood. The lining for the body of the jacket is a pretty floral cotton that I picked up somewhere for something! The lining for the sleeves is a silky material from Value Village.

Driven to Quilt

I have been bitten by the quilting bug. I have decided to sew an I Spy Quilt for my cousin’s little girl. I’ll be seeing her in August when we go to England on holiday. But I am sure when I get started I am going to want to make for the other little ones in the family as well!

Basically an I Spy quilt consists of many different squares of fabric with items easily identifiable by a child. So you can play the childhood game, I Spy with them. Now this means buying an awful lot of fabric so that you don’t have repeats.  I looked around for swaps, unfortunately I found a few but they didn’t want to include anyone outside of the US. Eventually  I did find one and I have sent off my three packages of fabric and in a few weeks should receive 30 different fabrics back.

Sew Colette

For this sew along I think I am going to be that person who is always running after everyone else saying, "wait for me, wait for me"!

But better late than never, I have finished the Meringue skirt. It fits so nicely and I am happy with it. It will be a nice skirt for work. It is a bit see through, so I will make a quick slip rather than add a lining.

New Evening Dress

I love my new dress, and it looks just like the picture on the pattern envelope!

I  wanted needed a new dress for my company’s annual dinner dance, I happened upon this particular pattern on the Vogue patterns website and it caught my eye immediately. It is Vogue  designer pattern (Kay Unger, New York), V1271. It is a very flattering style with a fitted bodice, wide midriff section then a straight skirt. The cap sleeves are bias pleated.

I couldn't find a suitable buckle so left the midriff plain.
