Me Made Holiday

Well not exactly, but I did wear a few me made items on my recent holiday in England and Ireland. Actually two, my Black Jalie Jeans and my Yellow Sewaholic Renfrew t-shirt (I did wear my Sewaholic Alma blouse and my black cropped pants but no pictures unfortunately!).

We started in Oswestry for a few days, visiting family and then London for 5 days of the Olympics before heading off to Ireland to rest and play golf.

I didn’t plan a Me Made Holiday, but it just shows that some of self stitched items have become such a part of my wardrobe that I packed them without thinking about it!

Cute children, but not mine (mine were left back home working!!)

Here we have my bright yellow Sewaholic Renfrew t-shirt. This was taken at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Wales.

Here we have the Black Jalie Jeans at the Olympics. We were off to watch Ladies Field Hockey in the Olympic Park (Riverbank Arena).

The Alma blouse

I was so excited back in Early June when I got an e-mail from Tasia from Sewaholic to ask whether I would be interested in testing her latest pattern. The Alma Blouse.

It was excellent timing. I had just finished my Colette Pattern Pastille dress and could not decide what to make next. I had sewing block as it were!!

What do I Spy here?

Over the last few months I have been puttering away on a few quilting projects. Now normally if I can't wear it, I don't sew it. But decided to make an exception this time!!

The idea behind the I Spy quilts is that you can use them to play the I Spy game.

The finished quilt

I had taken part in a Quilt Swap in order to get more fabric for some I Spy Quilting. I have made a cot size quilt and two sets  place mats as gifts for my cousins' children. I will be going on holiday to England at the beginning of August and will be seeing them all there.

Cutting the large squares into smaller squares

The quilt has 70 squares, each featuring something that a child can recognize. I made it as a Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt and am thrilled how it has turned out.

Owl Sweater

I am knitting an Owl Sweater.

Or, "nice hooters" as someone commented on my pin on Pinterest!

I was on the Google  a couple of months ago (a friend of mine's elderly parents refer to it as "the Google" - I like that!!) and I found the Owl Sweater. It is knitted in a similar fashion to the Cadence sweater I knitted back in October / November last year. That is it is knitted on a a circular needle. Whereas the cadence sweater was knitted top down, this one however is knitted bottom up.

I feel weird knitting in summer for a fall /winter item, but I want it finished in time to wear in the right season. Especially as it has been so hot here at the moment.

I have chosen a maroon color. Actually I initially bought red, but when I got it home realized that it was too close to the orange I had used for the Cadence. So I returned it the next day for the maroon.

So hopefully this will be ready for Fall!!
