Marfy Top

I discovered a Marfy top free pattern sew along the other day. Of course it was back in January, but better late than never!

I have been wanting to try a Marfy pattern for a while but have been very intimidated! But thanks to both free patterns on the Marfy website and wonderful instructions from A Challenging Sew I have made a top this week.

This is my wearable muslin. I have a beautiful red silk that my mum bought me back from a recent trip to Hong Kong that I plan to do the "real" one in.

I ended up wearing it last night. We had friends over for dinner and it was perfect paired with skinny black jeans and a little black cardigan.

I used a piece of fabric of unknown content, perhaps rayon (viscose?), very soft with a nice drape. I used couture techniques as suggested in the sew along such as hand stitching the gathered section when attaching the top to the collar for softer gathers, back dart opening and lots of hand stitching.

  1. That looks wonderful on you! I also found the sewalong late, but I'm planning to read some of the posts and try my own hand at a blouse -- I have some silk chiffon that isn't going to sew itself!
