On Saturday (August 10) a group of Toronto Sewcialists met up in Toronto. The lovely Funnygrrl from Falling Through Your Clothes was in Toronto for a visit, so had put out the word about a meet-up.
I unfortunately could not make the earlier part of the day (the shopping on Queens Street part) as my running group was doing the weekly long run on Saturday rather than Sunday this week. As we were doing 29km I didn't want to do this by myself the next day!
Probably for the best as I haven't been sewing much for the last couple of months and have enough fabric to be getting on with! So I just admired other people's purchases!

Anyway I got into the city just before noon, just in time to join everyone for lunch at La Neuf Cafe. Well I don't know if the other patrons knew what was happening, There were 11 of us around the table and when the fabric and the patterns came out for the swap, the noise level just rose!!
But great fun was had by all and by the time the food arrived I think we all had some new goodies. I have a piece of mauve fabric that is going to make a lovely dress form a pattern I also scored here, and a piece of grey fabric that is going to make a lovely pencil skirt.

If I missed you in a pic or your blog, let me know!
Until next time... which I believe might be Ottawa Street in Hamilton in the Fall.
Boohoo! I missed it! Glad you grand time. Can't wait for fall.
ReplyDeleteOttawa street has been on my list for home decor fabrics. So I'll be doing a run next month or maybe late August if all goes according to plans.
Enjoy! There is a good selection of stores on that street. I like shopping there!
DeleteThanks for posting so many pictures. I brought my camera and as is typical for me, forgot about it. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see everyone and a few new faces too. I haven't shopped in Hamilton before so I'm looking forward to the next meet up.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting together again. Pity I missed the shopping part. Next time.....
DeleteIt was so nice to catch up, Debbie! I'm loving that fabric that I got from you, I really want a skirt out of it, but I think it would make a nice winter purse! I am seriously psyched for Hamilton!
ReplyDeleteGreat seeing you again. That fabric would make a nice purse. I used it to make a Lady Grey Jacket, and I have a skirt cut out ready to sew as well.

Thanks so much for taking (and posting pictures!) It was a really fun day - I'm excited that we now have semi-regular meetups happening! :)
ReplyDeletei had a great time getting together and I also like the idea of regular meet-ups.
DeleteOh, wonderful post!! I have not made a post yet talking about the meetup, but it was so great to see you again! I have a few pics, as well, that I can email out, when I download them. (p.s., my blog is spelled Gjeometry - with a J in there - just to confuse you and my name also has a J (Catja), just to confuse you more.) :)
ReplyDeleteI have corrected your blog name. That's what happens when I blog late at night and then rely on spell check!!!!
ReplyDeleteSee you at the next meet-up.
Oh, sounds like it was super fun! Wish I could have been there.
ReplyDeleteWe missed you! But looks like you are enjoying Sweden.
