I love my new dress, and it looks just like the picture on the pattern envelope!
I wanted needed a new dress for my company’s annual dinner dance, I happened upon this particular pattern on the Vogue patterns website and it caught my eye immediately. It is Vogue designer pattern (Kay Unger, New York), V1271. It is a very flattering style with a fitted bodice, wide midriff section then a straight skirt. The cap sleeves are bias pleated.

I like to learn or use new techniques each time I sew. For this dress, instead of pinning and cutting the fabric, I used weights and by rotary cutter. I have been reading about how much easier this is and I agree. Also more accurate, especially with the slippery fabrics I was using (crepe back satin and bemberg for the lining).
Then on the construction of the bodice, the darts are done on the right side of the fabric.
The zipper is an invisible zipper, another first for me and I am hooked. I think I will try and use an invisible zipper as often as I can.
