Sewing and Knitting Update

Well it's been over a month since I last posted. Life has been very hectic as often happens. My parents were visiting from overseas, plus my role at work changed, so major learning curve there. All in all sewing took a bit of a back burner for a while. But I am back!!

At the weekend I cut out a pair of black stretch denim jeans (Jalie pattern) and the muslin for the Colette Patterns Lady Grey coat. Spent the last half an hour making some adjustments to the muslin which I plan to transfer to the pattern pieces tomorrow and then cut out the shell and lining. the lapels gaped, as did the back. I have also reshaped the lapels as t=I felt they were a little big for my frame.

But the big news is my knitting. Now it has been years since I knitted anything more than a scarf or hat  (and even that was a while ago!). But I am very pleased with the way that my Cadence sweater is turning out. Granted I unpicked it several times because I messed up the lace pattern. I also used language that is usually reserved for when I am on the golf course!

But the moment Kristen (from Kristen Makes and part host of the Newbie and the Knitter knit along) posted her detailed lace charts, it all fell into place and it has only taken me three weeks to finish the body and be halfway through the first sleeve. I am now ahead of the knit along, but I think I am ok!

So hopefully I can get these and a couple of other items that are part of the Fall Colour Palette Challenge and the Fall Essentials Sew Sew Along before Christmas!

  1. Wow, our Cadences are nearly the same color! Though you're way ahead of me. I had to start over completely this week.

  2. I'm so glad you found the chart helpful! It really looks great! I'm so impressed by how great it looks since it has been so long since you've done a bigger project. Way to go speed-knitter! You're ahead of me too!

  3. Beautiful sweater! Love that color. Your Lady Gray coat looks like it's coming along, too. Good luck with both projects

  4. Thanks so much for the lovely comments. I am really enjoying knitting again. I already have my next knitting project lined up. Long gloves. The Lady Grey coat I am making has sleeves that end halfway between elbow and wrist, so I need gloves!!
